Hallelujah, Christ is Risen!
Spring has arrived and the newness of life is evident all around us. Spring also heralds Easter, a time when we reflect, celebrate and give thanks for all Christ has given and all He has done for those who believe. He came to redeem us from sin and give us new life. We pray that you, too, have received His gift of new life!
Our volunteers are privileged to observe God’s hand at work in this ministry as people we serve find life-giving hope and blessings from above. As supporters of A Safe Place, you can be sure your gifts, whether financial, donated items, or prayer have a meaningful impact. Together we are able to help change lives.
- “Ken” lives in the woods. He drives to the Drop-In Center, but when his car recently broke down, he hitched a ride in to ask about possible assistance with repairs. We were able to help restore that lifeline for him. He came back and told us how he walked for 10 hours returning to his campsite that day and, through tears, told us how much A Safe Place means to him in this season of homelessness.
- When “Jackie”, homeless but employed, broke her very old eyeglasses it was difficult for her to manage. She needed new glasses quickly. “Paul”, an older man who visits the Drop-In Center, has difficulty seeing. We learned that, due to cost, it’s been over 10 years since he had an eye exam and new glasses. We were able to get them eye exams and new glasses through our partnership with the Lion’s Club, allowing Jackie to drive and work again and improving Paul’s quality of life.
- Recently, “Mark’s” vehicle which he lives in was impounded, putting him on the street without his belongings, making it hard for him to maintain his employment. With our aid, his vehicle was returned, allowing him to resume working and get back on his feet.
- We partner with local organizations to connect people with critical resources to reestablish themselves. Recently, this led to permanent housing for two separate individuals. After a lengthy time living in their vehicles, struggling to hold down employment and work towards stability, they are extremely thankful for the opportunity to have stable housing once again.
- During November–February at the Drop-In Center, we provided 495 showers, 615 meals, 30 sleeping bags, 20 tents, helped with laundry, clothing and other assorted needs for the 855 people who came through our door.
We are grateful for friends like you who help make this possible. May you also experience God’s rich blessings this Easter. Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! Hallelujah!
